Scarf Fever {oh so chic}

Scarves are without a doubt my favourite accessory. With the help of a stylish scarf you can transform an everyday getup into a chic outfit. After the jump we’ll look at some of the season’s best scarves (spoiler alert: they’re all under $30!)

While browsing through the accessories department at your favourite clothing store you’ve probably glanced at the scarves, but maybe glanced away just as quickly. Big mistake. Well maybe not relatively, but you should devote more time to scarf shopping. No other accessory can pull together an outfit as well as a lovely scarf. The best time to pick out the perfect scarf is undoubtedly during the summer months. Still some shoppers might be intimidated by this accessory, after all, certain questions probably occupy many peoples minds. Which one do I choose? Will it look strange on me? How do I even wear it? What do I wear it with?

All valid questions. First, you should know that wearing a scarf is a more bold accessory than a ring or a bracelet and you should take that in consideration when selecting your outfit. For example, if you choose a scarf that is heavy with prints or colours, you should shy away from shirts of the same pattern because your look will appear very “busy” and “crowded” with pattern. Instead, opt for a solid colour top (tank tops are a great option and white always works), that way your brand new scarf is highlighted. The same rule applies to your choice in bottoms. No need to don pattern-heavy bottoms, instead opt for a pair of skinny jeans, short shorts or leggings (though I am not a big fan of the last option).

The great thing about using scarves to accessorize is the selection. This is a great opportunity to showcase your personal style. Most clothing stores have a variety of scarves with varying colours, patterns, and prints. Your job is to experiment and try it on! Below is a little guide I’ve assembled to help get you on your way. These are some of my favourites, but below the image I’ve linked the store where each respective scarf can be purchased so that you can explore even further!
